Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love that its essence is about friends and family, being together, food and football intermingled with just hanging out. No stores. Almost everything is closed. We all slow down, just for a day. And hopefully it gives us pause to reflect.
I have a lot to be thankful for.
This past week I have heard of multiple moms of young kids who have died. I took my daughter’s girl scout troop to a transitional homeless shelter, where families have been displaced and are trying to get back on their feet. These past few years have been tough on almost everyone for one reason or another.
So to you who are reading this, particularly my patients who are reading this, thank you. I feel truly blessed to be doing something I love. I am blessed to have such wonderful patients, many of whom have become good friends. I love every day I meet new people: interesting, traveled, educated, insightful. I learn much from my patients. It takes a village to get through life, and I am blessed my job introduces me to great women on a daily basis.
So Happy Thanksgiving.
