Our Practice

Office Hours, Menlo Park

The office is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday though Friday. Dr. Greenberg sees patients in clinic on multiple days of the week, with her primary consultation and clinic days being Wednesday and Thursday. Patients are seen by appointment only.  Meghan Douglass RN sees patients for Botox and other treatments. After 21 years on Stanford’s campus at 750 Welch Road Suite 117 in Palo Alto, Dr. Greenberg moved to 1300 University Drive in Menlo Park.

New Consultations

New consultations are seen by our experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Lauren Greenberg, directly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

For cosmetic surgical procedure consults, she spends an hour with you. This is great educational time. If you have questions or someone you want with you, bring them to the consultation. Please know there may be a wait for the initial consultation as Dr. Greenberg is busy due to her expertise and dedication to the personal care of her patients.

Cost for a cosmetic consultation is $100. For many patients this will include imaging with the Vectra 3D imaging system for breast and face, which helps evaluate skin quality, sun damage, asymmetries, and can offer simulations of the proposed changes. The cosmetic consultation cost is applied to the cost of surgery when you book your surgery. In the time of coronavirus, or if you live far away, we can do the first part of  your consultation via Zoom. Please note all surgical patients must be vaccinated before surgery.

For insurance surgical procedure consults, she spends an hour with you.  As with all consults, $100 will be collected at the time of consultation, as Dr. Greenberg is a private surgeon and not in network for any plans. Common procedures that may have some coverage are breast reduction, hernia repair, upper eyelid surgery, breast cancer reconstruction, and implant capsule removal for leakage or capsular contracture. The determination of medical necessity coverage is made by your insurance company. Dr. Greenberg can help advise you during the consultation of what requirements they use. As a courtesy we will bill your insurance for the visit.  The consultation cost is applied to your surgery cost when you book your surgery.

Confirmation call: Due to demand and wait time for consultations, we will call you to confirm your consultation 1 week ahead of your scheduled date. If we do not reach you directly, you need to call or email us back to confirm you are coming. We apologize, but if we do not hear from you, we will move someone up from the waiting list. When you confirm your appointment, we will collect your nonrefundable consultation fee (the consult fee is applied to the cost of surgery when you book your surgery). We do the confirmation call and the collection ahead of your appointment as there is a waiting list to see her, and your appointment is a block of one hour with the doctor directly.

For nonsurgical procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers (Restylane®, Restylane® Lyft, JUVÉDERM®, Sculptra®), skin care, or chemical peels you will be charged for the cost of the procedure. If you have an information-only consultation (nonsurgical consultations are shorter than surgical consultations), the cost is $55, which is applied to your first treatment.

For in office small surgical procedures like scar revision, earlobe repair, and cyst or mole removal, the costs for these vary.  Currently Dr. Greenberg rarely does these in her practice.

We look forward to meeting you!

Insurance & Financing options

NON-CONTRACTED INSURANCE: For all PPO plans Dr. Greenberg is not in network and not contracted with that company. We can still bill your medical insurance plan as a courtesy to you. These surgeries are elective, not emergency. As she is a non contracted provider, your fees will be higher than if you go to a provider who is in network. Every plan is different. HMO or Kaiser plans can’t be billed.

Generally for insurance surgical procedures there are two charges from Dr. Greenberg to the insurance company: the initial consult and the surgery. The post op office visits for the first 90 days are included in the surgery fee. Please look at your plan and understand your benefits: what surgeries are covered and what your associated copays, deductibles, and other payments are. Please understand even though you may expect insurance to cover part or all of your bill, you should call your insurance company and understand your benefits.

Your charges for Dr. Greenberg’s fees will be collected in full at your preoperative visit.  If insurance pays some portion, they will send the check to you directly, or if they send to us, we will send it to you.

Dr. Greenberg only bills for her services. There will be other fees where applicable from the operating room, anesthesia, and pathology. Your insurance plan mandates you are financially responsible for all copays, deductibles, and non covered services.

Most procedures are considered cosmetic, and insurance will not cover those. For breast reduction, breast cancer reconstruction, skin cancer, and eyelid surgery, we will submit your information to receive pre-authorization for surgery.

IN-NETWORK INSURANCE: Dr. Greenberg is not in network for any plans.

COSMETIC/ELECTIVE: For cosmetic patients, payment is required before surgery. We are not affiliated directly with any financing companies.

her office, surgical centers & anesthesia

Consultations, small procedures like botox and fillers, and all pre and post operative visits are in her office at 1300 University Drive, Menlo Park. ( *NOTE: As of October 2021, after 21 years at 750 Welch Road in Palo Alto, Dr. Greenberg will moved to her new office in Menlo Park) We are excited about the move, as we have more space and privacy, with easy parking.

Other than minor procedures, surgeries are done at surgical centers.

Dr. Greenberg has privileges at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City and the Plastic Surgery Center in Palo Alto. Most surgeries are outpatient and are done at the Plastic Surgery Center in Palo Alto, where she has operated for over 20 years. It is dedicated to outpatient plastic surgical procedures.  All centers are AAAA certified.

For anesthesia, she uses the Associated Anesthesia Group.  They are wonderful.  They are all board certified Anesthesia MDs who provide very tailored, professional care.  She has worked with them since 1999.

Booking Surgery

Most cosmetic surgery is done at the Plastic Surgery Center in Palo Alto. After your consultation with Dr. Greenberg, if you would like to book a surgery you can reserve a date. Plan for your recovery. Do you have time off work? Someone to help at home? Most of my Bay Area patients are superheroes, who are constantly running at full force. Your body needs time to heal after surgery. Please plan for it.

This is a time to optimize your health. Dr. Greenberg will often give you a “punchlist” of things to do prior to surgery. Her goal is for you to have a safe, uneventful, successful surgery. The first step in this is your health. If you haven’t seen your primary care doctor for a while, this is a great time to do a visit. If doing breast surgery, for anyone over the age of 35 you should have a mammogram. If over the age of 60, a baseline EKG. If you are vegetarian or have a history of anemia, check your blood level. Simple nutrition is important for healing, particularly protein. For surgeries which tighten skin like breast lifts, reductions, or abdominoplasty surgery, being at your goal weight prior to surgery is ideal. No smoking or vaping of any kind before and after surgery for at least a month. If you have any other medical issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc), try to optimize prior to surgery. Know you will have a preoperative appointment with Dr. Greenberg 2 weeks prior to your surgical date.

For those coming from out of town, we try to optimize your time here, and do visits remotely where possible.

Due to her expertise and popularity, Dr. Greenberg books surgery months in advance. When booking surgery, please choose your date carefully. There is a $750 nonrefundable booking fee to reserve your date. The payments for surgery are due at your preoperative visit.
