Mommy Breast Augmentations (Breast Augmentation After Babies) and the Numbers

Posted on September 6, 2017

My implant company gave me a little review yesterday, stating how many mommies are choosing implants after their pregnancies and breast feeding. This is not news to me, my largest patient population is women after kids, to help restore their breasts after changes from pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Data is always good, so I thought it would be good to repeat here.

85% of patients with at least one pregnancy noticed adverse changes in their breast shape following pregnancy.

49% of primary augmentation patients are women dissatisfied with their breast appearance after having children.

310,000 breast augmentation procedures were done in 2016.

82% of moms are interested in other aesthetic procedures as well.

Interesting. I had no idea that 50% of the breast augmentation market were women after babies- so my experience is not unique.

I don’t think everyone needs implants, and heaven knows I do a ton of breast lifts and reductions for women as well.  But I do like doing surgery when people are unhappy, particularly if their concern changes how they live. If your breasts bother you daily, if you choose not to go to the beach or pool party, if you don’t change in the locker room or are inhibited in your intimacy because you do not like how you look, it is worth seeing a plastic surgeon to see if things can be made better.  I am honest and blunt about the good and bad during your consultation, so you get a real idea of what the surgery and the future entails.
